Selling Tickets at the Door with Contactless Payments

This article is for event organizers. Your door team can sell tickets on the spot and accept contactless payments right on a phone, no extra card reader needed. On Apple devices this uses Tap to Pay on iPhone, and on Android devices it uses Tap to Pay on Android. Both are powered by Stripe Terminal.

What you need first

  • Stripe onboarding complete: your organization's Stripe setup must be finished and able to accept charges.

  • The feature enabled: turn on contactless door payments in your organization settings at clubly.vip/dashboard/host/organization.

  • A supported device: Tap to Pay on iPhone requires iPhone XS or later running the latest version of iOS. On Android, you need a compatible NFC-enabled device. Tap to Pay on iPhone is not available in all markets.

Selling at the door

  1. Open the door sale option for your event.

  2. Pick the ticket type and quantity.

  3. The customer holds their contactless card, phone, or watch near your device.

  4. Payment goes through and the ticket is created instantly, delivered to the email they give you and ready to scan.

Common errors and what they mean

  • "Tap to Pay is not enabled for this organization": flip it on in your organization settings.

  • "This account cannot use Tap to Pay": your Stripe onboarding isn't complete or charges aren't enabled yet. Finish the Stripe setup in your dashboard.

  • "Tap to Pay has been disabled for this organization": it was turned off on our side. Contact support and we'll explain why and what's needed to restore it.
